Travel to Mainz

Mainz is located in the centre of the Rhine-Main Metropolitan area which makes it very easy to get to. There are regular trains from Frankfurt and Cologne. From Frankfurt the travel time by train is approximately 30 minutes, from Cologne approximately 2 hours. Frankfurt airport is one of the major European airports only 25 mins away by local train.

After arriving at Frankfurt International Airport, the best option is to head to the “Regionalbahnhof” and purchase a ticket to Mainz Hauptbahnhof from a ticket machine (after entering Mainz as your destination at the ticket machine, it will ask you if you want to travel via Frankfurt or Rüsselsheim, please select Rüsselsheim). A one-way ticket will cost about 5 € and can paid for by cash or card. All trains heading to Mainz depart from platform 3.

Trains from Cologne do not have a fixed platform but do go regularly to Mainz Hauptbahnhof.

Travel to the conference venue

The easiest way to the venue is from the main station (Hauptbahnhof). The tram stop is directly in front of the main station’s entrance. From this stop take tram line 51 or 53 in the direction of Hindemithstraße and alight two stops later at Universität.

From there a two-minute walk across campus guided by signs will lead you to the venue. Tickets can be purchased from the drivers or from ticket machines. A weekly travel pass is the best and cheapest option.
